What is Nature Therapy?

Find yourself. In nature.

Connect with the forest and discover what nature holds for you.

If we slow down to “nature’s pace”,  we can notice the tiny things, and allow ourselves to be present in the moment.  A greater awareness and feeling of connectedness to all life grows as we open ourselves to the healing powers of nature.

Forest therapy is done individually or in small groups.  It is a mindful practice of slowing down to take in nature.

A Forest therapy walk is a meditative guided walk, where you will be invited to experience the natural environment at various locations on the land.  Through a framework of guided invitations, you will be supported in discovering new ways to awaken your senses and engage with nature.   By slowing down enough to take in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the natural world, we connect to Earth in a deeper way.   Each walk concludes with tea and the invitation to share your experience with the other participants.

Nature helps us to let go of negative thoughts and creates balance and a sense of peace. The practice of forest bathing can be transformative,  giving us insight to our connectedness of all life.

Healing Benefits

Dissolve stress by connecting to something greater than yourself—the energy and innate wisdom of the Earth.

Time in nature is increasingly being recognized by the medical community  as a practice for overall increased wellness, both physically and mentally.

How do we harness the healing benefits of being outdoors? Forest therapy promotes health and restorative benefits, along with boosting the immune system. By breathing under a canopy of trees, the forest shares its medicinal inhalants called phytoncides with us. Phytoncides have antifungal and antibacterial qualities that help the forest protect itself from disease.   We are bathed in the healing compounds being released by the trees.

Trees exchange messages and nutrients with each other through a brilliant network that works like a massive underground web.  They also communicate and protect their forest family by emitting photoncides which are healing compounds that keep the trees healthy. When we take in photoncides, it also benefits us as humans by increasing the number of white blood cells that help our bodies fight tumors.  Research has also confirmed that forest therapy can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, boost immunity and enhance a better outlook on life.

About Me.

Hello! I’m Mette and I would love to share with you my passion for nature, and how it can help you in so many ways.

After years of being an outdoor enthusiast and photographer of 30 years, I noticed my  time spent in nature felt like a reset for me. I would feel calmer, refreshed, and happier. Through some of the most challenging times in my life, I have sought out the peace and solace that nature brings. I decided to take my love of nature a step further, and became a certified guide with ANFT, the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.

ANFT is a worldwide organization that educates and certifies guides. As your guide, I invite you to engage with nature in a whole new way. My hope is for everyone to experience the transformative power of simply being present in nature.

I am looking forward to starting this journey with you.
